Community Management For Open Source Projects (Panel)
The backbone of any project is the community that maintains, supports, and uses it. You must understand the different needs of each of these parts of your community in order to nurture them properly and help them benefit - and benefit from - the project. This panel discussion with four experienced open-source community managers explores the stewardship of open-source communities from a firsthand perspective, including the basics of community management - communications channels, governance and advocacy, metrics - as well as some of the more esoteric and human aspects of the job. If your organization or project doesn't have a community manager, you will learn why you need one. If you are a community manager, or have aspirations to become one, this presentation will either talk you out of it or charge your batteries.
