Community, Collaboration and Your Place In It
James Bottomley CTO, Server Virtualization, Parallels Kernel Community SCSI Subsystem Maintainer The Linux Foundation Board Member & Technical Advisory Board Chair From old hand expert coders to completely new beginners, the Linux ecosystem has a place for you. This talk will review how the ecosystem actually works and how contributions to the ecosystem may be made by both developers and users. It will also contain some practical dos and don'ts to help ease community interactions, particularly as they can be especially daunting in a mailing list based culture like Linux. Finally, we'll case study some of the exceptionally useful interactions we've had and demonstrate how they were mostly made by people who weren't subject matter experts in the problem area.
